What is DialStudio?

A visual editor for Garmin watch Faces, Apps, Widgets, and activity Fields. Build multi-screen workflows or arrange time, data, text, shapes, images, formulas, zones, alerts, and custom FIT outputs without writing code.

Can I put a face on my watch today?

You can design and preview in the browser today. Building and installing require the desktop app, and public installers are coming soon. Check the download page for availability.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You edit the design with visual controls. Desktop builds also need Garmin’s tools and a signing key; the setup guide walks through those steps.

Does it support my watch?

Search the device catalog for your exact Garmin model. Listed devices are editing targets and have not all been tested on hardware. Builds also need the matching Garmin device profile. Apple Watch and Wear OS are not supported.

Where are my projects saved?

DialStudio saves changes on your current device first. When you are signed in, it also syncs projects, folders, saved elements, build history, and account preferences to your account.

Sign in with the same account on another device to see your cloud library. Project content downloads when you open it or choose Download. Projects already downloaded remain available offline.

For a separate backup, use Settings → Storage & data → Export projects. See Accounts and sync for sync, offline access, and Trash.

What can I add to a watch face?

Digital or analog time, dates, health and activity data, weather, status indicators, text, shapes, icons, images, progress rings or bars, and history charts. You can also configure appearance rules and display modes.

Available elements depend on the watch. You can also save selected layers for reuse in other faces. The editor guide explains these features and where to find them, and the how-to guides walk through common workflows.

What can I make as a Data Field?

You can show one value in a simple field or design a custom layout with formulas, zones, and alerts. You can also save selected values in the recorded activity file. Garmin still controls the surrounding activity screen. Start with What is a Data Field?.

What can I make as a Watch app?

You can build a multi-screen Garmin app with pages, menus, dialogs, pickers, confirmations, app state, activities, maps, sensors, pairing, and guarded hardware commands. Start with What is a Watch app?.

Will custom FIT data show everywhere?

Not always. DialStudio can generate valid custom FIT fields, but Garmin Connect and third-party services decide which synced fields they display. Test a short activity before relying on a custom field in another service.

Does the preview show my real health data?

No. Preview uses simulated values so you can test changing conditions without a connected watch. Watch Face time and date begin from your device’s local clock, but health, activity, weather, battery, and sensor values are simulations. Real data depends on the watch’s sensors, permissions, and available data sources.

Why does building need desktop setup?

Garmin’s build tools run on your computer, so the browser cannot create the watch file. The setup guide installs the required tools and creates your signing key.

Can I use a phone or tablet?

You can read this site and its docs on a small screen. Use a desktop or laptop with a keyboard and pointer for the editor. Installing a face needs desktop and a USB connection.

What does beta mean?

DialStudio is still being tested. Some designs may have bugs or look different on hardware. Keep project backups and test builds on your own watch.

Is this an official Garmin product?

No. DialStudio is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Garmin.

Can I publish to the Connect IQ Store?

These guides cover installing a face on your own watch. DialStudio does not provide one-click Store submission. Publishing follows Garmin’s separate developer and Store requirements.
